A string · 1/2-3/4 viola
Clear, warm top voice
The A is clear and warm, providing a comfortable top voice with a focused character suited to the smaller instrument.
D string · 1/2-3/4 viola
Balanced, full middle
The D is balanced and full at the tonal centre. Consistent response under the bow with a round, warm character.
G string · 1/2-3/4 viola
Warm lower voice
The G is warm in the lower register with an even response. Blends naturally with the D and C on either side.

What size viola do these strings fit?
These strings are sized for 1/2 to 3/4 viola (smaller fractional sizes). They will not fit a full-size 4/4 viola. If you have a 4/4 instrument, please browse the main Symphonia viola strings range for full-size options.
How long do Tonica strings last?
Several months under regular playing. Replace when the tone becomes dull or intonation becomes harder to maintain. Wipe rosin off after each session with a clean, dry cloth.
How long do new Tonica strings take to settle?
Allow 24 to 48 hours of normal playing for pitch to stabilise. Retune gently in small increments during the settling period.
Are these strings authentic Pirastro?
Yes. Symphonia stocks Pirastro strings through the official supply chain. If a string is faulty on arrival or fails prematurely under normal use, contact us and we will arrange a remedy.
