About Pirastro Perpetual
Engineered for dynamic range from the first bow stroke.
Pirastro Perpetual strings are built around a steel rope core on the G and C, and steel cores on the A and D, with chrome-steel windings throughout. The design prioritises fast response, wide dynamic range, and minimal playing-in time. You reach full colour and stability quickly, which makes them a practical choice for both rehearsal and stage.
The Perpetual family was developed by Pirastro to meet the demands of modern orchestral and solo playing: strings that respond immediately to small bow gestures, hold their tuning under sustained playing, and project clearly from pianissimo to fortissimo without tonal compromise. Clear, brilliant, and powerful
Voiced for a clear, brilliant top on the A and D, with a strong and present fundamental on the G and C. Versatile across orchestra, chamber, and solo use. Ideal for modern players who want power that still sounds refined.
The Original balances projection with clarity, supporting quick shifts, reliable high-position intonation, and crisp spiccato or sustained cantabile.
Perpetual Soloist (Medium)
Radiant lows, velvety top
Pre-voiced for extra radiance and clarity on the G and C, while keeping the A and D warmly singing. Aimed squarely at solo and principal players who need luminous, projecting lows with a refined upper register.
The Soloist voicing provides the same fast response and tuning stability as the Original, with a tonal balance weighted toward solo projection and expressive colour.

How long do Perpetual strings last?
Lifespan depends on playing hours, perspiration, and environment. A daily-playing professional or advanced student should expect several months of consistent tone. Replace when the sound becomes dull, unfocused, or false in the upper positions.
How long do new Perpetual strings take to settle in?
Perpetual strings are designed for minimal playing-in time. Most players find the set fully settled within 24 to 48 hours of normal playing. Retune gently and wipe rosin residue off after each session.
