The original Danish flexi-metal string, trusted for over 70 years.
Jargar Classic strings have been hand-made in Denmark since the 1950s and remain one of the most trusted mid-range string sets on the market. They offer a warm, clear, and reliable sound that has made them a dependable choice across a wide range of instruments and playing contexts. The flexible carbon steel core and mixed winding construction strike a practical balance between warmth, projection, and stability.
Jargar is available in three tensions: Dolce (lighter, mellower), Medium (the standard), and Forte (higher tension for more power and bite). The Medium is the most widely used and is the version stocked here. Jargar Classic is a genuine professional string at an accessible price point.

Playability
Warm, comfortable, and consistently reliable.
Jargar Classic strings offer a comfortable feel under both the left hand and bow, with quick response and stable pitch. The upper strings (A and D) offer clarity without harshness, while the G and C provide a solid, rounded foundation. The set works well across rehearsal and performance conditions.
The total medium tension across all four strings is approximately 59.1 kg. The set settles quickly and holds tuning reliably, making it a practical, low-maintenance choice for regular playing. Particularly effective on neutral or slightly bright instruments that need warmth in the upper register.

Frequently asked
Jargar Classic cello strings, in short.
What is the difference between Dolce, Medium, and Forte?
Dolce is lower tension with a softer feel and mellower sound, good for bright instruments. Medium is the standard balance of warmth, projection, and stability. Forte is higher tension, adding power and bite, useful for instruments with a dull or unfocused lower register. The Medium is what is stocked here.
How long do Jargar Classic strings last?
Lifespan depends on playing hours, perspiration, and environment. A daily-playing advanced player should expect several months of consistent tone. Replace when the sound becomes dull or the pitch false.
How long do new Jargar strings take to settle in?
Jargar Classic strings settle quickly. Allow 24 to 48 hours of normal playing before the pitch fully stabilises. Retune gently and wipe rosin residue off after each session.
Are these genuine Jargar strings?
Yes. Symphonia stocks Jargar through the official supply chain. If a string is faulty on arrival or fails prematurely under normal use, we arrange the replacement directly.
