Collaborative Pianist - Monica Chang
Monica Chang completed her Masters of Music at the University of Waikato, specialising in performance piano, principally under the tutelage of Katherine Austin. She subsequently studied under Rae de Lisle at the University of Auckland.
Monica was awarded numerous awards and prizes including the Lili Kraus Piano Award, and was one of twelve pianists chosen to participate at the Yamaha Piano Competition in Kerikeri in 2006. She has performed as a concerto soloist, including in support of community groups such as the United Youth Orchestra.
Monica’s students have been successful in examinations and university auditions gaining entrance and high achievement awards. She has been involved in collaborative piano at the University of Waikato and was a former Accelerando Junior Academy tutor. She currently supports a number of music teachers in Auckland as a collaborative artist and coach and is a preferred pianist for the Suzuki Violin School in Auckland.
She currently resides in Auckland and is an active chamber musician, solo and collaborative pianist.
