European 4/4 Cello (Goffriller Model)
Symphonia · European 4/4 Cello
The Goffriller model,
warmth with weight behind it.
A European-made cello after the Venetian models of Matteo Goffriller. Smooth across registers, with a full lower voice and clear projection. Set up at Symphonia for advanced students and working professionals.
About the model
Goffriller, in a modern European hand.
Matteo Goffriller worked in Venice in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, and his cellos are prized for a particular kind of warmth — round in the low end, broad-shouldered, never thin. This Symphonia instrument is a European workshop cello built on those Venetian proportions and voiced with the same priorities in mind: depth before brightness, body before edge.
The result is a cello that sits comfortably in chamber and orchestral textures and steps forward when a soloist asks it to.
Tone & response
Smooth across the registers, present in the room.
The voice is round and well-projected, with even transitions from the C string up to the A. Articulation is clean under the bow, and the response is quick enough for advanced repertoire without feeling brittle. Long sessions stay comfortable because the setup is balanced rather than tense.
Setup & strings
Pirastro Perpetual, fitted and ready.
The cello ships strung with Pirastro Perpetual — a modern professional set known for tonal stability and projection. Fingerboard work and bridge setup are completed in-house at Symphonia so the instrument plays well from the moment it leaves the shop.
