Thomastik Peter Infeld (PI) Strings

Tonal Profile & Player Level: PI strings are defined by their rich spectrum of sound colors and wide dynamic range. They strike a delicate balance between warm and brilliant, sounding powerful while playing loud dynamics and sweet while playing softly. They have an instant bow response and superior tuning stability.

Set Configuration: This variant includes three E-string options: Tin-plated (standard), Gold-plated, and Platinum-plated. The standard set includes the tin E. The gold E provides a warmer, rounder, and sweeter top-end; the platinum E provides maximum power, brilliance and projection for soloistic playing.

Core & Winding Materials: The E-string is tin-plated over a chromesteel core (with optional gold or platinum plating). The A-string is aluminum-wound over a synthetic core. The D-string is silver-wound over a synthetic core (an aluminum-wound D is available for more brilliance). The G-string is silver-wound over a synthetic core.

• E-String (Tin Plated) – The standard PI E-string, tin-plated over chromesteel, offers a clear, powerful and focused sound; it is the brilliant option.
• E-String (Gold Plated) – The warm option; this gold-plated E adds warmth, richness and sweetness to the upper register, ideal for instruments that are naturally bright or for achieving a richer blend.
• E-String (Platinum Plated) – The power option; this platinum-plated E provides the most power, brilliance and projection for soloists needing maximum carrying power.
• A-String (Aluminium/Synthetic) – Provides a rich spectrum of sound colours; it is highly responsive and complex.
• D-String (Silver/Synthetic) – Balances warmth and brilliance, delivering a rich, full-bodied tone with a delicate blend; an aluminium-wound D variant is available for more brilliance.
• G-String (Silver/Synthetic) – Offers a powerful, elegant and colourful foundation with an instant bow response, grounding the set with a warm yet focused tone.
