Fine Violin – 2024, Roberto Cavagnoli Workshop, Cremona, Italy
This exquisite violin, handcrafted in 2024 at Roberto Cavagnoli's workshop in Cremona, Italy, embodies the rich tradition of Cremonese violin making. Built with meticulous attention to detail, this instrument reflects Cavagnoli’s commitment to superior craftsmanship, using only the finest aged tonewoods, carefully selected for both sound quality and aesthetic beauty.
The violin features a deep, warm tone with exceptional resonance, offering rich overtones and excellent clarity across all registers. Its powerful projection makes it particularly well-suited for large concert halls, ensuring that the player's sound remains full and expressive in solo, chamber, or orchestral settings. The even balance between brilliance and warmth allows for a wide range of tonal colours, making it a highly versatile instrument for professional musicians.
Cavagnoli’s masterful varnishing technique enhances both the tone and visual appeal of the violin. The thin and flexible hand-applied varnish—carefully brushed in layers—allows the wood to breathe while bringing out the natural depth and richness of the aged spruce from Northeast Italy and flamed maple from the Balkans. This not only gives the instrument an elegant antique-style finish but also contributes to its free, open sound and quick response.

"The instruments I make are handmade in the Cremonese style. I am always looking for the best wood for sound quality and appereance. I pay great attention to the choice of wellseasoned timber of no less than 10 years old. The spruce wood comes principally from the NorthEast of Italy and from the Balkans comes maple. The varnish I use gives natural colouring to the woods. I always put 30 35% varnish by brush on the instrument which makes a thin and flexible skin enhancing the violin’s look. I make violins, violas and cellos of different measurements following the traditional model of the Cremonese masters. "
